Trump attacks

Megyn Kelly defends CNN reporter from Donald Trump attacks

By Hadas Gold

Megyn Kelly came to the defense of CNN reporter Sara Murray, who was being attacked by Donald Trump for what he called "terrible" reporting about the crowd size at his book signing.

Ironically, at that very event on Tuesday, Trump praised Murray for a question she asked, saying "Sara from CNN, a terrific person.”

During an interview with CNN on Wednesday, Trump flipped the script, saying Murray failed to report the large crowd sizes at his event.

"If you would listen to Sara Murray, you would think there were three people standing in the atrium of Trump Tower," he said. "Either she's a very unemotional person or she's not a very good reporter."

During her show on Wednesday night, Kelly went through some of Murray's reporting, including her reports which show and describe crowds at Trumps' events as well stories where she described Trump as doing well in the polls, how he "knows how to rally a crowd" and how Trump "lures crowds by the thousands."

"The problem...is unless you say it just the way he wants you to say it, you get hit. And the thing that happens on some of these networks, they give him an unfettered arena in which to assault the press which helps with some voters because they don't like reporters, they don't like the media," Kelly said.

On Twitter, Murray thanked Kelly and others for defending her.

"Thanks to everyone for your kind words today. I so appreciate you all," she wrote. "I especially want to thank @megynkelly @DanaPerino @HowardKurtz for taking the time to examine my reporting [and] for their kind words on Fox."
